From Stage to Office: Kinsey Allyn’s Role in Amarillo's Live Music Community

When you’re building a music community, it takes more than great songs and packed venues. It takes people who care. The people who show up, support others, and bring steady hands and kind hearts to the work behind the scenes. For us at Loud and Heavy Booking, Kinsey Allyn is one of those people.

Kinsey is not only our secretary, she’s also a performer with her own growing fanbase in the Amarillo area. As part of a father-daughter duo, she brings a blend of country and pop covers to restaurants, listening rooms, festivals, and family-focused events. Whether she’s answering emails or stepping up to the mic, Kinsey gives the same attention, energy, and care to everything she does.

With the work experience I’m getting, I’m meeting other musicians in the community who want to see you win. The encouragement and experience have been great. It’s helped my stage presence, and I can take it and apply it to what I’m doing
— Kinsey Allyn

She performs under the name "Kinsey Allyn.” This stage name is a thoughtful nod to her dad, Jimmy Allen Newman, who plays guitar beside her. Though her last name is Newman, they share a middle name with minor spelling differences. She chose to carry that name into her music because her dad once gave up his own musical path to raise her and her siblings. That sacrifice became part of her story. Performing together now isn’t just about making music, it’s about carrying forward something her dad paused for family and doing it together, on their own terms.

Music has always been part of Kinsey’s life. She was raised with country and worship music, and her setlists reflect that upbringing. She weaves in favorites from Chris Stapleton, Miranda Lambert, Dolly Parton, The Outfield, Adele, and even Taylor Swift. This creates a set that can appeal to just about anyone in the room. Her sound fits naturally in bar-and-grill-style venues and steakhouses, where both kids and adults can feel at home. Her stage presence is lighthearted and engaging and what she calls a “funky cowgirl” vibe, something like early Taylor Swift with a little Megan Moroney charm. She reads the room, adjusts her sets, and keeps the focus on making sure everyone feels like part of the experience.

Kinsey brings that same intuition and thoughtfulness off stage, too. She’s in her final semester of school and somehow manages to balance classes, gigs, and her work with Loud and Heavy Booking. She does all this while navigating a health condition that would sideline most. Kinsey was diagnosed with lupus at 16, and it affects her hands and her voice. That’s part of the reason her dad plays guitar for their sets, and it’s also why she spends extra time preparing for shows with breathing treatments, medicine, and vocal warmups. It’s a lot to manage, but you’d never know it from the way she shows up.

When asking her what keeps her going, it’s never about the spotlight. It’s about the people in the room. She remembers the older woman in Dalhart who lit up after hearing her sing “Blue.” She still smiles about the little girl who danced through her entire set at the Lumber Yard, the one she gave her Kinsey Allyn heart-shaped sunglasses to. Creating meaningful moments and small connections that last beyond the song is what music is all about for Kinsey

I’m a person who feeds off impact. If I can tell that somebody felt something from my singing or is excited, those moments affect me the most. I enjoy making music to have an impact on people.

Working with Loud and Heavy Booking has helped her see more of what goes into making those moments possible. She’s learned how to navigate booking, promotion, and performance with professionalism and patience. And through it all, she’s grown not only as an artist but as a part of our team. She brings care to the people around her, builds bridges in the local scene, and reminds us that music works best when it’s grounded in real connection.

After graduation, Kinsey plans to move to Dallas to build her portfolio and keep developing her sound. She’s already learning the ropes of production and recording and has her eye on bigger opportunities that still keep her close to her Texas roots. She chose Dallas over Nashville because she wants to take her time, build real skills, and make her next steps count.

There’s so much to music, you can get burnt out from doing it all the time. To recharge, I watch some of my favorite comedy shows and movies that aren’t related to music. Playing piano is another outlet for me. I often play songs not on my set list or worship songs. Going outside also helps me refresh and recharge.

Kinsey is someone who leads with heart. She works hard, she cares deeply, and she makes the people around her feel seen. Whether she’s playing a set, answering emails, or just being there to cheer on another artist, she brings something special to the table. At Loud and Heavy Booking, we’re lucky to have her. And we can’t wait to see where she goes from here.
