Black Tie Revolt Hits Hard with New Single “Nail”

Black Tie Revolt returns with a fierce new single, “Nail,” showcasing a heavier, more intense side of the band while continuing to deliver the emotional honesty fans have come to expect. Following the momentum of their previous release, “The Fight,” this latest track digs deep into themes of standing firm and letting go of toxic relationships, highlighting the band’s evolving creative voice.

The current lineup features Ian Diaz on vocals, Tyler McElreath on lead guitar, Kody Tosh on rhythm guitar, Daniel Escamilla on bass, and Chancely Stater on drums. Daniel and Chancely are the newest additions to the group, bringing fresh energy and solid musicianship to the band’s dynamic sound.

Written by lead vocalist Ian with music contributions from Cody Tosh and Tyler McElreath, “Nail” was born out of a jam session after practice where Ian brought a riff to life and collaborated with Cody and Tyler to hammer out the full song. Ian describes the inspiration behind “Nail” as cutting someone out of his life who “wore a mask of calm but underneath it was noise.” Rather than anger, the song channels the power of release and warns that every action has a reaction, much like a hammer driving a nail, the pressure eventually pushes back.

This track also reflects the band’s recent experience working through internal challenges, with “Nail” serving as an outlet for frustration and resilience. The recording process, led again by producer Matt Lymberg, who worked on “The Fight,” brought fresh experimentation: tripled-amped guitars, direct modeler inputs, and vocal harmonies and background noises that add new textures to the sound. Cody’s multitasking on rhythm bass and drums proved crucial, with Tyler praising him for “saving the day” during recording.

“Nail” has also grown into a live show favorite, especially after the band added a bridge section during the studio sessions. Live performances get energetic responses with crowds energized and letting off steam, proving the song’s raw power translates beyond the studio.

The single stands out as a heavier, angrier statement from Black Tie Revolt, showing their willingness to balance introspective lyrics with hard-hitting rock. Tyler reflects on the lyric “I’m through with all your master plans” as a personal assertion of control and a return to being part of a band with shared direction.

I was just a hired musician for the bands so being back in a group with some control has been a nice change
— Tyler McElreath

While “Nail” will be released as a standalone single, it is part of a larger plan. Black Tie Revolt is compiling a self-titled album once all their upcoming singles are out. Fans can also look forward to a more straightforward, fun rock and roll track next, along with announcements about upcoming shows.

For anyone who appreciates honest, gritty rock music with heart and edge, “Nail” is a must-listen. Black Tie Revolt continues to build on their sound and presence with every release, proving they are a band to watch.
